Accrediting Organizations
An accrediting organization develops criteria and standards for judging quality, assesses the extent to which they are met, and, if the assessed entity or individual meets the accrediting organization's standards, issues a statement to this effect, that is, it 'accredits' the entity or individual who is thereby 'accredited.' These organizations are a resource for assessing the quality of delivery systems (such as health maintenance organizations), facilities (such as hospitals), and individuals (such as doctors).

We have made every reasonable attempt to ensure the accuracy of information contained in this Directory; principally, by asking accrediting organizations to verify their Directory profiles. We cannot, and do not, warrant that Directory information is accurate nor that it is complete in all respects nor that it is fit for a particular or any purpose. Further, an accrediting organization periodical may change its name or focus or merge with another without notification. If an accrediting organization declined to verify its profile, it bears a corresponding legend after the date we last updated the profile.
